CÁRDENAS: 90 DAYS UNTIL INSURANCE EXCHANGES ARE OPEN

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, U.S. Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-San Fernando Valley) announced the relaunch of Healthcare.gov, a new consumer-focused website to help Americans learn more about the Affordable Care Act and the new Health Insurance Marketplaces. The Marketplaces, which will be a one-stop shop for finding the right private insurance plan, will open in just 90 days.

A 24-hours-a-day toll-free call center is available to help learn about both the benefits and responsibilities of the healthcare law. American families can also learn how their health care choices will be expanded.

“Today in this country, there are too many stories, rumors and fearmongering about what the Affordable Care Act means for individuals and businesses,” said Cárdenas. “People in my district and throughout our country can go online right now or call, free of charge, to get their personal questions answered. For those who are worried about an issue, I invite them to, please, make the call, ask your questions and learn about both the benefits and the responsibilities of this new healthcare law.”

The new consumer-focused www.HealthCare.gov website - also available in Spanish at www.CuidadodeSalud.gov - and new toll-free call center, 1-800-318-2596, are designed to help Americans who are looking for health coverage prepare for open enrollment and ultimately sign up for private health insurance.

On October 1, millions of Americans across the U.S. will be eligible to purchase affordable health coverage through Marketplaces.  Choice will range among numerous private health plans and provide subsidies to millions of Americans to make that coverage affordable.
