Cárdenas Holds Healthcare Roundtable
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) hosted a healthcare roundtable with doctors and community healthcare professionals to discuss Democratic efforts to strengthen the Affordable Care Act (ACA), protect Americans with pre-existing conditions, and fight to lower prescription drug prices.
Congressman Cárdenas stated the following:
“Every person in this great country should have access to healthcare. Period.
“No parent should be forced to choose between putting food on the table or paying for their child’s medicine. As the richest country in the world, we can afford to create a system where all Americans have access to healthcare without going bankrupt. In the past few weeks, I, along with my Democratic colleagues, have passed several bills that would improve our healthcare system, from lowering prescription drug prices to strengthening protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.
“We, as Democrats, agree that every person in this country should have access to healthcare regardless of social or economic status. We may have different ways of getting there, but we are united in a firm belief that all Americans should have access to quality, affordable healthcare.”
Congressman Cárdenas is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Health Subcommittee which deals with public health; research and development; health information technology, privacy, and cybersecurity; Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance; regulating food, drugs, and cosmetics; and federal departments dealing with healthcare and medicine.
