Cárdenas Announces Class of 2025 Military Service Academy Appointees
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY — Today, Congressmen Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) announced the 2021 Military Service Academy Appointees from California’s 29th Congressional District. Each year, Congressman Cárdenas and a committee select student applicants to receive Congressional nominations to attend West Point, the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, or the Merchant Marine Academy.
“Every year, I am honored to nominate Valley students from our district to our nation’s outstanding service academies,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “I congratulate these young leaders on their appointments and thank them for their dedication to serving our country. I wish them all the best of luck as they begin this new chapter of their lives.”
The following students were nominated by Congressman Cárdenas and have since been offered and accepted appointments to attend a U.S. Military Service Academy:
United States Military Academy West Point
Kyle Alfred Wynn, Mission Hills - Notre Dame High School
U.S. Air Force Academy
Kalen Alejandro, Sylmar - Notre Dame High School
U.S. Naval Academy
Gabriel James Garcia, North Hollywood - North Hollywood High School
All three students received full four-year scholarships. Upon completing their education, the appointees will be commissioned as U.S. military officers in accordance with their field of concentration.
To be considered to attend a military academy, a student must get a formal nomination from their Member of Congress, Senator or the Vice President. Students must apply directly to the Military Service Academy and elected officials of their choice to be considered. A nomination does not guarantee an offer of appointment.
