Project Name: On-Work-site-Experience Program

Summary: The program is an intensive training program that will serve under-skilled job seekers; long term unemployed, and/or laid off workers due to the pandemic. The program provides 18 and older candidates with an Earn and Learn On-Work-site-Experience (OWEX) . The work experience is an upskilling opportunity that provides 18 and older adults with hands-on work exposure and skills through community clean-up, debris removal, safety and related projects that are tied to community involvement service.

Project Name: Community Empowerment Learning Pods

Summary: The project focuses on increasing equitable access to education for lower-income youth, including through online schooling and online/in-person tutoring supports. Project Name: Bridging the gap and addressing disparities for underserved youth through STEM and SEL

Summary: The project delivers a two-pronged approach to address the needs of underserved youth in the district. The first is through STEM opportunities for underrepresented students such as minorities, girls, and youth from families living at or below the poverty line. Second, the project delivers Social and Emotional Learning through evidence-based programs which are needed to ensure students move forward in their academic or technical career pathways.

Project Name: Increasing Short Term Vocational Trainings and Hands-On Biotech Training to Non-Traditional Students at Los Angeles Valley College and Los Angeles Mission College

Summary: The project seeks to expand on the current workforce development programs at Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) and Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC). The Workforce Training Program at LAVC offers short-term, vocational training to the non-traditional student, who is unemployed, underemployed, hard-to-employ, or displaced due to their work leaving the country. The Biotech, Manufacturing, and Transportation Academies at LAMC train people in a matter of weeks to be prepared to enter the workforce at an entry-level.

Project Name: Project Home Key Development

Summary: The project will convert the Panorama Inn, a new housing property acquired through the State of California’s Project Home Key initiative, into permanent supportive housing (PSH) for individuals experiencing homelessness in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valley region of Los Angeles County. PSH provides service-enriched permanent housing for people with high barriers to housing stability who, without support, would likely fall back into homelessness.

Project Name: Pacoima Wash Greenway

Summary: This project seeks to implement the final phase of the Pacoima Wash Vision Plan which was created by community stakeholders that live in close proximity. Pacoima Beautiful along with its partner Kounkuey Design Initiative has led a community planning and design process for a new greenway and open space in the southern portion of the Pacoima Wash.

Project Name: Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Program

Project Name: 15260 Rayen Housing Rehabilitation Project

Summary: This project seeks to fully rehabilitate one of six permanent supportive housing buildings – 15260 Rayen Apartments (a 6-unit two-story 5,048 square foot building) – that houses homeless Transition Aged Youth (TAY).

Project Name: Telfair Avenue Multi-Modal Bridge Over Pacoima Wash Project

Intended Recipient: Office of Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez (City of Los Angeles, Council District 7) in Partnership with the Bureau of Engineering

Requested Funds: $5,047,200

Summary: This project includes the construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge along Telfair Avenue over the Pacoima Wash and will provide direct access to the future El Dorado Park. Currently, local students and neighborhood residents use this dangerous cut-through route as there is no safer option. This project is greatly needed for the community and will both provide increased safer, active transportation while investing in the aesthetics of the Wash.
