Cárdenas Applauds FCC’s Expansion of Unlicensed Spectrum in 6 GHz Band

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) released the following statement after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted unanimously to allocate 1,200 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for unlicensed use, like Wi-Fi:

"I applaud the FCC’s vote to expand unlicensed spectrum in the 6GHz band, ensuring that more Americans have access to broadband. In these difficult times, Americans depend on Wi-Fi to stay connected and access critical telehealth services, run businesses, and learn in online classrooms. This significant investment in unlicensed spectrum will undoubtedly increase innovation and be a boon for our economy."
