CÁRDENAS CONGRATULATES VALLEY TOP EXPORTER
(Washington, DC) – Following a visit to their Van Nuys facility, U.S. Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-San Fernando Valley, Calif.) congratulated Louroe Electronics on being awarded the Presidential “E” Award at a ceremony that will be held next Monday at the White House.
President Obama will give the nation’s highest recognition for expanding U.S. exports to Louroe, who manufactures audio technologies for security systems.
“Louroe is an American success story,” said Cárdenas. “This small business has expanded from five employees in 1988 to the company that works with more than 44 countries to export American products. I am proud that Louroe calls the Valley it’s home and I was very happy to get to visit with the management to congratulate them on this honor.”
President Kennedy revived the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America's exporters. The “E” Award Program was established in December 1961. In addition to Louroe, President Obama will honor 44 other U.S. companies with the President’s “E” Award.
U.S. exports of goods and services hit an all-time record of $2.34 trillion in 2014, accounting for more than 13 percent of the U.S. economy, compared to 7.5 percent 30 years ago. Nationally, jobs supported by exports reached more than 11 million last year.
