Cárdenas Statement on Trade Legislation
(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-San Fernando Valley, Calif.) issued the following statement, regarding his vote on Trade Adjustment Assistance and Trade Promotion Authority legislation currently before the House of Representatives.
“After much study of the issue, meeting with a wide range of stakeholders, including leaders of organizations, Cabinet members from the President’s Administration, ambassadors from the Latin American Pacific rim countries impacted by TPP, local business groups and entrepreneurs and listening to the thousands of calls and emails that have come into my office, regarding Trade Promotion Authority (TPA or “fast track”) and the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) reauthorization that the House is considering, I have come to a decision.
“I will be casting a “no” vote on both TAA and TPA.”
