Cárdenas Statement on Protests in LA

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) releases the following statement on the protests in Los Angeles:

“I stand with the Angelenos marching in the streets and making their voices heard. For too long, the voices of people of color have been silenced and their concerns ignored. To my neighbors, friends and families who are protesting — keep marching and protesting, but do not let your emotions make you resort to violence. Our outrage is justified, but do not allow that outrage make you lose sight of what you are out there protesting. Do not validate the people who are trying to discredit this movement. Damaging the businesses and livelihoods of your fellow Angelenos who are struggling to get by is not who we are. We stand up for one another. We look out for one another. We protect one another. That’s who we are. Keep marching and speaking out against racial injustice.”
