CÁRDENAS STATEMENT ON REPUBLICAN IMMIGRATION REFORM

CÁRDENAS STATEMENT ON REPUBLICAN IMMIGRATION REFORM

(San Fernando Valley, Calif.) – U.S. Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-San Fernando Valley) today issued a statement, following reports of the House Republican “Standards for Immigration Reform.”

“Thankfully, my Republican colleagues have heard millions of Americans who agree we must reform our broken immigration system,” said Cárdenas. “Whether it is the business owner who wants certainty in his labor force, the sheriff who wants to prioritize resources and focus on keeping our streets safe, or the family who simply want to follow their American Dream, this nation knows we must change.

“The majority of the American people, like me, support a full pathway to citizenship for undocumented workers. It is good to see that my Republican colleagues have not closed the door to this possibility. This concept will be a key piece of any successful reform effort. I look forward to a robust debate on this issue, along with many others, and to supercharging our economy by successfully passing immigration reform legislation.”
