Cárdenas Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition During Virtual Art Show

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY — On Saturday, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) announced the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition during a virtual art show.

“Each year, I am in awe of the talent and creativity of San Fernando Valley students. This year is no exception,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “I’d like to congratulate our 2021 winner of the Congressional Art Competition, Kathia Hernandez, for her piece ‘Skating Summer Days.’ We look forward to seeing her artwork hanging in the halls of Congress.

“Our community is filled with talented young artists just waiting to be discovered. I want to thank every student who participated this year. Art is not simply a reflection of who we are, but it is also a tool that we use to build our minds. Education in the arts leads to success in other subjects, and I hope this competition reminds students, teachers and parents of the importance of investing in the arts,” continued Congressman Cárdenas.
