Cárdenas Calls for Humanitarian Ceasefire, Urges Prioritization of Civilian Lives
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) made the following statement:
“I support President Biden’s call for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza in order to facilitate the delivery of critical aid and the safe release of hostages.
“Before the recent escalation in violence, everyday 500 trucks were entering Gaza with needed supplies, 100 of which were delivering aid. While I applaud the call from both U.S. and international aid officials to allow at the very least 100 aid trucks to cross the border daily, I support efforts to increase the number of trucks to several hundred a day to meet existing humanitarian needs.
“Civilian life must be prioritized – that includes ensuring adequate delivery of humanitarian aid, including food, fuel, water, and medical supplies.”
