Cárdenas, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Applauds President Biden for Affirming Support to Build the National Museum of the American Latino on the National Mall

Washington, D.C. – Representative Tony Cárdenas, alongside all other Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), sent a letter to President Biden urging him to publicly support building the National Museum of the American Latino on the National Mall.

During today's White House Hispanic Heritage Month reception, President Biden affirmed his support. 

"... Congress should take action to honor the Latino community and women with their own museums on the national mall. It's time." 

CHC Chair Dr. Ruiz issued the following statement:

"The Congressional Hispanic Caucus appreciates and applauds President Biden for affirming that the National Museum of the American Latino rightfully deserves a place on the National Mall. His actions demonstrate a strong commitment to honor the Latino community. Together with President Biden, we will continue to uplift, unite and value the contributions of nuestra gente. Estamos con Biden." 

CHC Vice Chair of Member Engagement Rep. Tony Cárdenas issued the following statement:

“Today’s remarks by President Biden make clear that he stands with Latinos across this country and wholeheartedly believes our stories deserve their rightful place on the National Mall. As we move ahead in the site selection process for the National Museum of the American Latino, I look forward to his continued support.” 

Senator Menendez issued the following statement: 

"I’m pleased President Biden has joined our call for the National Museum of the American Latino to be built on the National Mall. The Latino community deserves to have our stories uplifted and celebrated in the heart and center of our nation’s capital and together we will ensure we make this a reality.”
