Cárdenas Statement on Nomination of Xochitl Torres Small as USDA Deputy Secretary
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) applauds the Biden Administration’s the nomination of Xochitl Torres Small to the position of USDA Deputy Secretary. Torres Small is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and currently serves as Under Secretary of Agriculture for Rural Development at the United States Department of Agriculture.
“As the son of immigrant farmworkers, I absolutely appreciate the knowledge, expertise and representation that Xochitl Torres Small will bring to the role of USDA Deputy Secretary,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “Having had the honor of serving alongside Secretary Torres Small in Congress, I saw firsthand her impressive intellect and leadership as she masterfully developed and effectively passed legislation for the American people.
