Congressman Cárdenas Invites San Fernando Valley CVS Pharmacy Technician as Virtual Guest to Presidential Address

Alejandra Salazar has been able to provide vaccinations thanks to President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) will virtually watch President Joe Biden’s Joint Address to Congress with guest Alejandra Salazar, a CVS Pharmacy technician who has been instrumental in getting vaccines in arms throughout the San Fernando Valley.

For over a decade, Alejandra has spent her career caring for pharmacy patients throughout Los Angeles. Since the start of the pandemic, Alejandra has worked at a CVS Pharmacy community clinic in Panorama City to provide tests and vaccines for the San Fernando Valley community.

“When President Biden took the oath of office, he pledged that help was on the way,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “100 days into our work with the Administration, our nation is already getting back on track. Americans like Alejandra have shown immense courage throughout these unprecedented times and are the true heroes of recovery efforts for the San Fernando Valley.  Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, Alejandra and other healthcare workers are vaccinating our communities to help beat the pandemic. It’s an honor to invite Alejandra and show our community how our continued work with the Biden Administration is directly impacting lives in the San Fernando Valley.”

“I am humbled to be invited as a virtual guest to President Biden’s joint address to Congress,” said Alejandra. “Tonight, I am thinking of the thousands of pharmacy workers who have stepped up to the plate and continue to distribute vaccines to help keep our community safe. Nothing has been more rewarding than coming together with my CVS family to help combat COVID-19 head-on. While there’s still work to do, I rest assured that with Congressman Cárdenas and President Biden at the helm, our community will soon see better days.”

The Joint Address, which is President Biden’s first speech to a Joint Session of Congress, marks 100 days into the President’s first term. In the past, Members of Congress have often invited constituents to join them as guests. While COVID-19 safety protocols mean this year’s in-person attendance will be limited, Congressman Cárdenas believes inviting Alejandra Salazar as his virtual guest is an important way to honor the people of California’s 29th Congressional Districts and lift up their stories.

The Joint Address to Congress will be streamed here.
