Congressman Tony Cárdenas Sends Letter to President and FEMA Administrator to Request Federal Assistance for Creek Fire
WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Creek Fire currently burning in the 29th Congressional District, Representative Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) sent a letter (available here) to President Donald Trump and FEMA Administrator Brock Long and released the following statement:
“To my constituents affected by the Creek Fire, please remain safe and vigilant. These winds are dangerous. Please listen to first responders: if you have been ordered to evacuate, DO NOT WAIT. Evacuation centers have been set up at the Sylmar Recreation Center at 13109 Borden Avenue and Branford Recreation at 13306 Branford Street.
I am in contact with local officials to stay up to date on the Creek Fire" situation, in which more than 11,000 acres have already burned. I am working with our Federal authorities to identify and make available the resources to make sure our firefighters have what they need to stop the spread of the fire, as well as respond to relief efforts.
Thank you to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and all the other agencies for helping to protect our residents."
