Rep. Cárdenas Issued the Following Statement on Jewish American Heritage Month
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) released the following statement marking Jewish American Heritage Month:
“Jewish Americans have contributed greatly to the United States for centuries. This year, we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month by honoring the lives of those who left centuries-old legacies behind and brought to this nation talents that have shaped our culture.
“During Jewish American Heritage Month, we must recognize the inspiring history of contributions that Jewish Americans have made in our music, politics, science, law, business, and education. From Steven Spielberg’s greatest films, to Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, their impact is felt and seen across so many aspects of the American way of life. Most importantly, in times of struggle, the Jewish American community stood in solidarity with ethnic minorities to fight against injustice and racial disparities. Their leadership has left long-lasting impacts on labor and civil rights movements across the nation.
“The Jewish American community is a leader of priorities that strike at the heart of American values. This, among many other reasons, is why I joined the Latino-Jewish Caucus upon my first year in Congress. It is a privilege to stand by my friends in the Jewish American community and honor them this month, and every day, for their commitment to community, religious freedom and faith.”
