Rep. Cárdenas Secures Nearly $13 Million For Local Valley Projects in Government Funding Package

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Representative Tony Cárdenas announced he secured $12,929,279 in Community Project Funding for California’s 29th District in the 2024 spending bills. This funding, included in the first of the appropriations government funding packages, responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

“I’m proud to advocate and deliver for the people of California’s 29th District,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “These investments make an immediate impact in my district, and I know will make a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, and stronger.”

Rep. Cárdenas championed funding for 13 projects that will directly benefit California’s 29th District residents. These include:

  • $2,750,000 for Pacoima Beautiful for their purchase of Casa Esperanza
  • $1,666,279 for Chicas Mom Inc.
  • $1,000,000 for Alliance for Community Empowerment’s Resilient Reseda Facility
  • $1,000,000 for the City of Los Angeles’ Woodman Sidewalk Improvement Project
  • $963,000 for Strength United's Domestic Violence Community Policing and Advocacy Project
  • $850,000 for Sylmar Recreation Center construction of a new 3,000 sq-ft center senior center
  • $850,000 for Mid Valley Family YMCA in Van Nuys for renovation of community empowerment center
  • $850,000 for North Valley Caring Services Capacity-Building Project
  • $850,000 for the Abbey Road Housing Rehabilitation Project
  • $650,000 for the City of Los Angeles’ Chandler Boulevard Bike Path Gap Closure Project
  • $500,000 for ICON-CDC Pacoima Commercial Corridor Growth Project
  • $500,000 for the City of Los Angeles’ Saticoy Gardens Permanent Supportive Housing Renovation
  • $500,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley building upgrades and improvements
