Statement from Congressman Cárdenas on a Possible Government Shutdown:
This week, I reported to the floor of the House of Representatives and voted to respect the U.S. economy and keep the U.S. government open.
Our president is willing to hurt working families for his own vanity. He promised a wall and he promised the American people that they will not have to pay for it, and now he is trying to shut down the U.S. government if he doesn’t get to spend five billion American tax-payer dollars to build it.
We deserve better from the President than to hold American families and the economy hostage for political gain, especially this time of year. For my part, I will keep fighting to protect American families in the days to come.
