Cárdenas Statement on Draft Supreme Court Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) released the following statement on the draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization that would overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey:
“Half a century of reproductive freedom is hanging by a thread. No matter where you live, how much money you make or what you look like, the right to choose is about the freedom to control your own body. The Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade would be an egregious attack on decades of the right to equal access to healthcare and privacy. The House voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act; now, it’s time for the Senate to get off the sidelines, abolish the filibuster and codify Roe v. Wade. We can’t afford to turn back the clock. We will fight tooth and nail to protect abortion access for everyone in America.”
