Statement from Congressman Cárdenas on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the Women’s March

Forty-six years ago this week, the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution defends a woman’s right to choose. We recognize this date across the Valley and across America because it’s important to show the world that every woman has the right to make her own health decisions in consultation with her doctor, and without the interference of politicians or employers.

Yet in the decades since the case, it has become increasingly hard for women to access health care, because of the relentless attacks from Republicans.  As lawmakers, it is our duty to fight for this fundamental right to choose. It should not matter where you are born, who your parents are, or the color of your skin. If you’re a woman in this country, you deserve access to health care that is free from fear or intimidation. Millions of fearless women continue to stand and march for their rights, and as a Member of the People’s House, I stand with them.
