Rep. Cárdenas on the Smithsonian appointment of Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard
Congratulations to Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard on her historic appointment to the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents. She has been a lifelong public servant and one of the most effective legislators in Congress today. I know she will do a great job representing all the interests that the Smithsonian is responsible for representing.
As the first Mexican-American woman elected to Congress, she understands deeply the need and the benefits of a Latino History Museum for all to appreciate and experience. She is the perfect person to bring to fruition the creation of an institution that honors the Latinos of the past, the 58 million Latinos in America today, and the millions who will call this great country their home in the future.
