Cárdenas Announces $1.4 Million in Community Project Funding to Penny Lane Centers and Abbey Road for Improvements to Housing for Homeless and Supportive Services

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY – Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) announced $1.4 million in Community Project Funding for improvements to housing for homeless and supportive services to Penny Lane Centers and Abbey Road. $1 million will go to Penny Lane Centers to fully restore housing for homeless youth.  $400,000 will go to Penny Lane Centers to provide 60 homeless individuals with severe mental health conditions with job training, placements and supportive services. Abbey Road is an organization within Penny Lane Centers.

“Regardless of what situation one might find themselves in, everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their dreams. Today, I was proud to deliver $400,00 in Community Project Funding for Penny Lane Centers to help formerly homeless individuals get jobs and live more stable lives. I was also extremely honored to deliver $1M in Community Project Funding for Abbey Road to help improve housing for formerly homeless youth. Each of these inspiring young people deserves to live in a home they feel safe and comfortable in,” said Congressman Cárdenas.

For the first time since 2009, Congress passed Community Project Funding, money requested by Members of Congress to meet the needs of their district. Congressman Cárdenas submitted ten Community Project Funding requests to the Appropriations Committee, all of which were passed in the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations federal funding package. The over $12 million going to the Northeast San Fernando Valley will support community improvement, housing for the homeless, job training, youth programs, mental health services and more.
